Paint Shop Pro File Converter

I have a lot of frames and tubes created in Paint Shop Pro 7. Now I want to use these in Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. I'm able to convert them from filetype.psp to.pspimage using the built-in conversion tool, but I need to give them the filetype.pspframe or.psptube to be able to use them efficiently in the program. Does anybody know about any conversion tools which could do the job for me? Of course I could make a script file (batch job) in Windows or something, but that's not what I want. .psptube IS of filetype.pspimage (just select file type PSPIMAGE then change the extension from.pspimage to.psptube when saving). However, I had no problems putting my older *.tub files in the C: users [username] docume nts my psp files picture tubes subdirectory (or 'folder' as microsoft calls them) in Win7, and they automatically appeared in the tube picker.
The tube picker (don't know what else to call it. No tooltip pops up when the cursor is floated over it) appears between Presets and Settings on the Tool Options Palette (View->Palettes) bar when the Picture Tube Tool is chosen on the Tools Toolbar (View->Toolbars).
That's in X3, but I have to believe it was the same in X2. I didn't have any custom frames, but I found some online and they look to be the same as tubes. I put them in the C: Users [username] Docume nts My PSP Files Picture Frames folder, and they worked fine without renaming (with the.pfr extension), from the Image->Picture Frame. No conversion necessary. (If you can't find them in the 'All' category, just the frames you add to the My PSP Files Picture Frames subdir structure should appear by themselves in the picklist under the Picture Frames category.).
I have succeeded in making Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 finding my frames. It was necessary to rename them to.pspframe to make them work.

When I try to use them in my program I'm first opening a photo (a picture of my late mother-in-law) using Open in the File-menu. The picture is JPG. Then I use the menu-choice Image / Picture Frame and gets a list of the frames available.
But some of the old frames (converted used the Batch Process converting them to.pspimage and then rename them manually to.pspframe) seems to make the program hang, and as far as I have seen this is because they're not transparent (?). The only solution then is to kill program in Task Manager. Do you know how I can make these Picture Frames transparent? I have tried using the Image/Palette/Set Palette Transparency, but that does not succeed. Any solutions? How to add your photo into this I dont know.
I would just import the frames into their own folder then make PSP open it Open PSP then go to FILE>then Preferences>then File Locations>then Frames look at my snapshot. On the topic of transparency testing one of my picture tubes file>new>image>ok>then opened my picture tube plugins and dropped a could in there, it has a black background, then using the magic wand clicked inside the cloud copied that pasted as a new image saved as a gif opened in IE 9 to see if it was trans parent yep.
How to convert Corel Paint Shop Pro image files (*.pspimage) to JPEG bitmap image format file format (*.jpg).
I have discovered the reason why my frames didn't 'work' in Corel PSP Photo X2. The.psp-files I assumed was 'native' PSP7 files was in fact PSP7 files which was converted to JPG/GIF. Then they were opened in PSP7 once again and saved as.psp-files. That explains why Corel PSP Photo X2 hanged when I tried to use them as picture tubes. 'Native' PSP7 files saved as.tub or.pfr works directly when imported to the relevant folders (subdirectories) in Corel PSP Photo X2. But: It is possible to convert JPG/GIF-files 'back' to 'native' PSP7 files? Merete: Thanx for your guide, but at last I found out that making the files transparent did not solve the problem after all.
I dont have PSP x2 ok looking at the guides the image required for tubes is rather small, the dimensions of the image are 181 x 181 pixels. You need to make it transparent I dont have time to walk you through this now as it's night time may I offer you a guide instead remember how I wrote above create a new image? Hi toyboy61 (hope that's not your year of birth, or you're no more a 'toy boy' than me;-) Glad you got your solution.
I kept meaning to come back here with some basic information about the way PsP creates 'tube' and 'frame' images, and how they differ from more standard images, but it's inconsequential now. One thing I would say is that PNG is, in my opinion, the best and only file type to use for any content where you need to preserve transparent areas. GIF supports transparency, but because of the lower number of unique colours supported it makes it less ideal for photo-realistic images. JPG will convert previously set transparent areas to an opaque white when 'Saved As'. Supports the full colour depth you want and uses a lossless compression, while supporting that all important extra 'channel' to allow transparency. PNG support in Internet Explorer is now not the real pain that it was in previous IE versions, so it can be used readily for web pages.
The easist way to take a JPG image of eg. An actual picture frame and save it so that it can later be used in a layered image to frame another image is to use PsP's Magic Wand tool to select the solid area of colour which is usually white. You then use the Selection menu to 'invert' the selection so that it is only selecting the solid object you want, and you can then move the selection closer in (to remove any extraneous inclusion of the white), or out if it is cutting into your selection too much - Selection menu >Modify. Edit >Copy >Edit >Paste as NEW IMAGE. This will make any area NOT copied and pasted transparent in the new image. Image menu >Canvas Size allows you to add more transparency around your image content before you do a File >Save As >PNG. You can simply keep a separate folder of images with transparency that you might wish to use in composite layered images at a later time.
Of course, with proper PsP Frames you have the option of adding the frame Inside or Outside the image and choosing the currently set background colour, a custom colour, or transparency. There are only a couple of PsP's own Picture Frames that I have ever used. The others I just created and saved as PNG images to my image resource folders. That's how I do things, but everyone is different.

In October 2004, purchased Jasc Software and the distribution rights to Paint Shop Pro. PSP functionality can be extended. The X-numbered editions have been sold in two versions: PaintShop Pro, which is the basic editing program, and PaintShop Pro Ultimate, which bundles in other standalone programs, additional artistic tools and/or plugins. The particular bundled programs have varied with each numbered version and have not been sold by Corel as separate products. PSP comes with an interface for automating tasks with scripts written in. Paint Shop Pro 1.0 (pictured here running on Windows XP), was released in 1992 for Windows 3.1. Originally called simply Paint Shop, the first version, 1.0, was a basic between BMP, GIF and PCX formats, released by Robert Voit in August 1990.
Paint Shop was originally distributed as and is still available at many download sites (4.12 being a popular version). Most newer versions are only commercially available although some have been distributed in the United Kingdom in computer magazine CDs after they became obsolete. Paint Shop Pro 5 added support for layers as well as CMYK and HSL colour modes, included JASC Animation Shop for creating animations and in fact was marketed as 'Paint Shop Pro 5.0 with Animation Shop'.
PaintShop Pro X6 was the first to be available as a native 64 bit version (purchase includes both versions). PaintShop Pro X7 includes content-aware features such as 'Magic Fill' and 'Smart Edge' as well as support for sidecar files that preserve edit settings for.
From 2006 to 2011 (versions XI to X3), PaintShop Pro was marketed as 'Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo'. Having dropped the 'Photo' part of the name in version X4, Paintshop Pro X5 was derived from Ulead Photo Explorer after Corel's acquisition of Ulead.
On November 28, 2007, Corel announced that the office in, where Paint Shop Pro was created, would be shut down, with development moving to offices in California and China. Picture tubes [ ] Picture tubes are graphic images with no background. They are often used as a starting point for complex images; that is, they are combined with other image elements to produce a final work. Tubes can also be regarded as graphic brushes based on a pre-created image; this was their original use. Instead of leaving a trace of color on the canvas, they would leave a trail of images.
Popular tube subjects include alphabets, humans (also known as ), animal and toy figures, flowers, love messages and seasonal symbols. The tube system originated with PSP Pro version 5. Native tube files may be in.tub,.psp,.pspimage, and.psptube formats.,, and are separate graphics programs that can convert tube files (.tub) to. Ultimate edition [ ] PaintShop Pro Photo X2 Ultimate was released towards the end of life of PaintShop Pro Photo X2, in September 2008. It included 150 additional picture frames and Picture Tubes, the programs Background Remover, 4, and Photorecovery, as well as support for 250 cameras and a 2GB flash drive. Subsequent Ultimate editions were released contemporaneously with the basic version.
PaintShop Pro X4 Ultimate included Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0, a voucher for 21 images from at high quality, and additional Picture Tubes. X5 Ultimate included Reallusion FaceFilter Studio 2.0, NIK Color Efex Pro 3.0, and 'over 100 unique brushes, textures and royalty-free backgrounds'. Apartheid 1 0 Lxde I686 Isosceles more.
PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate includes Athentech Imaging's Perfectly Clear and Reallusion's FaceFilter3 Standard. PaintShop Pro X7 Ultimate includes those same two items. The bundled extras cannot be installed unless that version of the PaintShop program is already installed. However, once a bundled extra such as a plugin has been installed, the installed files can be copied to other versions, e.g., a plugin installed under X5 can be copied to X6 and even if X5 is then uninstalled, the plugin will continue to work under X6. Corel releases a new X version roughly annually, so this ability to copy means PSP users do not have to choose between updating or continued use of Ultimate add-ons from previous versions.
