Hi All, Firstly, sorry if this has been asked before. I did a few search but no joy. I got the loan of 2 Ciso VOIP phones 7910 and 7940. They were used on a network that had a Cisco Callmanager 3.3. I've a router running 12.3.11T2 and CME 3.2.
The above phones refuse to load and won't register, I've the correct TFTP load statements global and under telep-service. I'm guessing the problem is with the fact they were used on Callmanager before and this has downloaded some image onto them already. Using the tftp debugs, the phones are looking for some files that are not on the CME router. I've earsed the phones config and factory default.
Now not sure if it worked, becuase the 7940 has an entry for a callmanager on it. I'm at a loss, is there anyway to manually load the phones images from CME onto the phones? Or how do I get them to download from CME. Free Download Theme For Nokia 5233 New more. Thanks for ur help.
I've no experience on Callmanager or used it before but I want to try getting some VOIP experience with CME. Rgrds RE: CME Phone Load problems (IS/IT--Management) 20 Jan 05 15:34.
Dude, This isn't a lot to go on. What firmware is on the phones now? What firmware is on the router for the phones? Did you set the TFTP server on the router to share these files? Have you added the MAC address of each phone to the CME?
Are you using DHCP? If so have you specified the option 150 in the DHCP server? It is what it is!! __________________________________ A+, Net+, I-Net+, Certified Web Master, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CCDA, and few others (I got bored one day) RE: CME Phone Load problems (IS/IT--Management). Hi, I rebooted the router and the phones came online. But they not running the latest firmware. Yes, files on the router and dhcp is correct with option 150.

There are actually 2 different parts to the newer firmware. One is the.bin file. This is just a shell to load the.sbin file. So what is an.sbin file? Cisco lost a few deals becuase the 7900 series phones weren't capable of using encryption to secure thier communications.
So Cisco went about securing thier phones. In order to do this, they had to digitally sign thier firware. Hence the.sbin files. Once you load a.sbin file on a phone, you cannot load any unsigned firmware versions. Not really a big deal, but this does require you to share both the.bin and the.sbin file on your router. If the phone has never loaded a signed firmware version then it will load the.bin, which in turn loads the.sbin file. Anyway, it sounds like you are up and running.
Pretty cool isn't it? It is what it is!! __________________________________ A+, Net+, I-Net+, Certified Web Master, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA, CCDA, and few others (I got bored one day).
